Five ways Nigeria’s currency flotation will affect life

Nigeria is allowing its struggling currency, the naira, to trade freely in a move to tackle the financial crisis in Africa's most populous nation. Financial blogger Feyi Fawehinmi looks at how it will affect people's lives.

1. Petrol prices will remain stable

Refined petrol is Nigeria's single biggest import. The story of how an oil exporting nation has to import almost all of its refined products is well told.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, refined petrol imports in the first three months of 2016 amounted to 226bn naira ($1.1bn, £791m) or 15.6% of the total imports.
Last month, petrol subsidies were removed and a new price band of 130 naira to 145 naira per litre was recommended by the government

June 12 Bonus: Abiola Last words to Dele Momodu.

I may not have much to say about MKO's death but, i still need to pen down facts for my followers to digest as we celebrate June 12 today. Enjoy and learn more about the last words from the mouth of first and ever not ruling Nigeria's President.By Dele Momodu
How did you join the late Chief Moshood Abiola’s presidential campaign?
I think in 1991, the ban on old politicians by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida was lifted and Abiola, Gen. Shehu Yar’Adua and Chief Olu Falae were among those who were then allowed to contest. Though he had said he was quitting politics, I knew in my heart of hearts that Chief Abiola was interested in contesting. On December 20, 1991, I wrote him a letter telling him, ‘I congratulate you on the lifting of the ban and I am very certain that you are going to contest election one day. I just want to give you my honest advice as a protégé of yours.’ I went ahead to plead with him that if he was going to run for the presidency, he should join the party of the people

I Opened a Hairdressing Saloon to Invest For Dry Days- African China Reveals

In a recent interview, African China opened up on why he opened a hairdressing saloon.
Read excerpts from the interview below.
Aside from music, is hairdressing one of your many interests?
By opening a hairdressing salon, what I have done is invest for a rainy day. If you check properly, you would realise that some of those who began their careers about the same time I started mine are now broke. Today, a lot of them cannot feed themselves and their dependants. Before fame beckoned, I used to work as a barber at a salon and I am not ashamed to say that. Now that I am African China, I know this business idea would generate income on a daily basis because people always want to look good. The salon business is not the only business I have. I also have a boutique in Surulere, Lagos. I have a sound equipment rental business and I have a record label that is as old as Kennis Music.
It appears music no longer pays your bills?
It still pays my bills and I still get shows.
