Dasukigate: Presidency Reacts To Jafaru Isa' Arrest

The presidency on Wednesday, January 7, reacted to the arrest of Jafaru Isa, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged involvement in the arms deal scandal.

According to a report on an online medium,
Today, reports that an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari revealed that the presidency would not interfere with the arrest and probe of the APC chieftain and “close associate of the president.”
The source maintained that although Isa was a close political ally to president Buhari, he would nonetheless remain neutral in the matter, in line with his promise of zero tolerance to corruption.
He said: “It is true that Isa has been with Buhari from the days of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and was equally a member of the transition committee and actually headed the defence committee.”
That does not mean that Buhari knows anything about the N100 million said to have been collected by the man from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).”
The aid however stated that the long relationship which existed between the embattled politician and the president “does not in any way suggest that Buhari was associated with the alleged collection of N100 million from the ONSA.” Meanwhile, reactions have continued to trail the arrest of the APC chieftain Jafaru Isa in connection with the N2.1 billion arms deal scam.
